So next year I’ll be taking part in the GNR for the Morley defibrillator fundraiser.

We currently have a few places and looking for people to take part if they would like the challenge and help raise some extra funds. please get intouch with my self or William Morley

The Morley fundraiser will be fitting there 48th defib to the local areas and 19th donated by the masons.

Defibrillators can be the difference in life or death for someone suffering with a heart attack or an incident that causes heart to fail.

This cause is extremely important to the family as a son, brother, uncle, husband and dad passed away in a venue that wasn’t equipped with a defib. we want to help other families avoid this heartache.

Thanks

LIFE-saving devices will be installed on ever Freemasons building in the county thanks to a generous donation of more than £30,000.The Provincial Grand Lodge of Cumberland and Westmorland has donated £32,500 to the North West Ambulance Charty for 26 defibrillators to be attached on the outside of all its buildings.

The initiative has been driven forward by Bill Morley, who has been fundraising for more defibrillators across west Cumbria following the tragic death of his son, Billy, 45, last year. The 45-year-old builder, of Cleator Moor, was on a stag do when he passed away suddenly at a property in Liverpool city centre, which did not have a defibrillator available.Mr Morley has been working with the North West Ambulance Service Charity to provide defibrillators and find suitable locations for them.Megan Stephenson, community resuscitation engagement officer at the North West Ambulance Service said: “We extend our deepest thanks to the Provincial Grand Lodge of Cumberland and Westmorland for their generous donation to the North West Ambulance Charity and for becoming the first Masonic lodges in the UK to install Community Public Access Defibrillators (CPADs) on the outside of all their buildings.

“Once installed, these devices will provide 24/7 access to life-saving defibrillators for local communities — a vital step in improving out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rates across the region.

“This initiative has been spearheaded by Bill Morley, in memory of his son Billy. Bill has been the driving force behind raising awareness and securing the extensive funding needed to make this project a reality. His efforts go far beyond fundraising — they represent a commitment to saving lives and supporting every community he touches.

“This achievement is an inspiring example of community spirit in action. By taking this proactive step, the lodges will not only support their members but also provide a crucial resource for the wider public across Cumbria. This project shows true leadership, compassion, and dedication — setting a standard for others to follow.

“Congratulations to everyone involved in making this life-saving initiative possible.”

Mr Morley added: “The Morley family are so grateful for the Masons support in helping us get these life-saving defibrillators out far and wide.”
